"Triple S": Slow Food, Skiing & Snowshoes – Aosta Valley
Our 3-day "Triple S" Tour in Valle d’Aosta starts with a visit to Forte di Bard. This century-old site houses an ultramodern museum where you will get an overview of the history of the Alps, their inhabitants and age-old traditions. Afterwards it will be time to invigorate your inner self in a tasting of among other things Lardo di Arnad (a very famous kind of regional pork) and other meats from the production company Bertolin. A guided city tour of Aosta will take care of the historical and cultural side of things on this first day. We will then put up at the enticing, cozy hotel for a bit of relaxation time. A very special and memorable event will be the night-time snowshoe torchlight procession. Imagine breathing in the fresh mountain air, the sound of snow with your every step, the distance lit by the moon and torches, the impressive view... followed by a dinner with traditional regional dishes in Il Caminetto.
The ending is of course a Grolla d’Amicizia, a traditional beverage of the Aosta Valley, containing coffee, grappa, orange and lemon rinds mixed with sugar and served in a grolla (wooden jar).
The theme of the next day will be pure ski or wellness. If you want, you can experience the magic setting even more intensly with heliskiing or alternatively use the helicopter for a flight over among other places Mont Blanc. Acheese tasting and shopping tour in Courmayeur also make for perfect alternatives.
At noon a visit to the wine cellar of Les Onze Communes is on the programme, including an extensive wine tasting and apero bites. Lou Ressignon will receive you in this characteristic trattoria for a regional lunch prepared with love.
A bit of culture in the shape of a guided visit to Castello Fenis, an exploration of the production site of Jambon de Bosses and a grappa distillery complete your introduction to the Aosta Valley. Your stay in the Aosta Valley will make for life-long memories!
